Roberto Menescal (born October 25, 1937) is a living legend. The Brazilian guitar player and composer was one of the pioneers of Bossa Nova. Author of the song “O Barquinho” (Little Boat), one of the most popular Bossa Nova songs. He performed in several Brazilian genres such as Popular, Samba and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), working together with other famous artists like Carlos Lyra, Nara Leão and Wanda Sá. 
 
He was nominated for a Latin Grammy for his work with his son's bossa group Bossacucanova in 2002 and received the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Special Awards in Las Vegas, in November, 2013.
