Born in Manaus, Brazil, drummer and educator, Lucio Vieira, has never been one to sit still. He has toured the world, lived in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and has continued to refine his crafts of drumming and Contemporary Brazilian Music. Raised by a musician father, Lucio developed a keen sense of the art form as a child. From an early age, he was exposed to classical music, the 80s and 90s rock & soul, jazz, Brazilian music, and the pop world of the 1990s. Such eclecticism later influenced and shaped his career as a fusion drummer.

His outstanding talent, brought him on tour and recording sessions with various artists, including: Leny Andrade, Gilberto Gil, Jane Duboc, Fátima Guedes, Maria Bethânia, Elba Ramalho, Arthur Maia, Gilson Peranzzeta, Dominguinhos, Rita Benneditto, Danilo Caymmi, Wagner Tyso, Nelson Ayres, Nelson Faria, Ney Conceição, Mateus Starling, Roberto Menescal, João Donato, Idriss Boudrioua, Cliff Korman, Luis Leite, Thiago Amud, Pedro Sá Moraes, and Zélia Duncan, Rique Pantoja, Sérgio Mendes, Amy Keys, Steve Weingarter, Justo Almario, Robert Kyle, Larry Coryell, Allen Hinds, Frank Gambale and more.

He participated in the “Illuminado by Dominguinhos”, a CD/DVD that won a Latin Grammy in 2012.

In addition to his career as an astonishing drummer, Lucio has a continuum of work as a music educator, and he is one of the essential drummers of the Brazilian Contemporary Music and jazz drumming scene in Los Angeles. 

Nowadays, Lucio is managing his time playing around Los Angeles, touring, recording, and teaching at the Musician Institute in Hollywood, CA.
