MARCELO PENIDO

Marcelo Penido is a professional Harpist, known for his talent, skill, and discipline with the harp instrument. 

​

Graduated from the University of Minas Gerais, Master's and Ph.D. from the Indiana University School of Music - Bloomington, IN. Awarded in 1996 by Indiana University with the Olympia Barbera Award.

​

Currently teaching at the University of Minas Gerais, Marcelo is known for his participation in some of the most important Orchestras in Brazil. He played for the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by John Neschling. From 2002 to 2010, he performed for the Repertoire Experimental Orchestra of São Paulo’s city theater. He has also played for the Bloomington Camerata Orchestra, Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra, and many other orchestras in Brazil and internationally.

He played harp for “Moses and the Ten Commandments”, a RecordTV series. He also played harp for the “The Rich and the Lazarus” Tv series soundtrack, in 2017. 

​

In 2018, Marcelo recorded the album “Marcelo Penido Plays Daniel Figueiredo”, with harp themes composed by Daniel Figueiredo.
In 2019, Marcelo was designated to the Director's Council of the World Harp Congress.
